Store Layouts

Stores and boutiques have a way about them. An ebb and flow that can consume you. The beat of the music, the bright lighting, and the arrangement of clothes all partake in your experience. The smell of leather handbags and the textured shoes all play with our 5 senses whether or not we know it. However with no theme to the layout and nothing to bring you back, the products simply will not sell themselves.

A bold statement yes, but not without rationality. With no marketing plan, or theme, you only will receive one time costumers that wont come back. Themes of music, lighting, placements, and arrangements are all parts of drawing people in, and showing them how to flow within the store. In the pictured store, there were 2 window displays with different outfits facing different ways. Allowing customers who walk in to see another outfit behind the one they saw in the window. Further back along the left wall, the owner or manager strategically put their handbags and accessories on the wall of the checkout, ultimately causing a boost in sales. Adorning the back wall where shoes were showcased, coordinating outfits hung above the racks or coordinating shoes. The consistent theme of the store was designer items for less, however the clothes style were only relevant on the aspect of "for less." While this aesthetic has women aged 18-30 in mind there were men's jackets and jeans present. Therefore allowing both genders to have an experience, however due to its lack of publicity in the media outlets, customers may be confused on who they target and the style they cater to. Each of the 5 senses of taste, touch, smell, see, and hearing played an important role in my choice to come back again. By looking closely and the stores you go to or own, a simple change in music might bring in the crowd you've been looking for.
